Bob Dole is certainly no stranger to Republican conventions. The former U.S. Senator from Kansas was the GOP's nominee for president in 1996. President Clinton won his second term that year. Now, Dole's wife, Elizabeth, also a former presidential candidate, is a U.S. Senator from North Carolina who's up for re-election this year. A short time ago, I had the chance to ask Dole what he thought about the McCain-Palin ticket. He told me Sarah Palin, like his wife, is very popular in North Carolina. He jokingly said that if I happen to see Palin tonight that I should tell her he'd like her to visit North Carolina. He told me to call him collect if I have any luck. We'll see.
