I just came off the floor of the arena where I watched Senator John McCain check out the new stage built for his acceptance speech here at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul tonight. He was joined by his wife, Cindy, and fellow Senators Joe Lieberman of Connecticut and Lindsey Graham of South Carolina. The podium from where McCain will speak now sits in the center of the floor, with the Pennsylvania delegation assigned to sit in the first few rows.
McCain walked up to the podium, which rises out of the stage, and tested the microphone by reading part of his speech off the teleprompter. When asked what his thoughts were on the speech given last night by his vice presidential running mate, Alaska Governor Sarah Planin, his response was "wonderful."
