I don't know all the reasons the Republicans chose Minnesota's Twin Cities for the site of their national convention, but it's nice to think that one may have been because of Peanuts.
Not the kind a GOP elephant might like to eat, but those of the funny pages, i.e. Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and the gang. Their creator, Charles M. Schulz, was born in Minneapolis and grew up in St. Paul. As a tribute to the legacy he left behind,
larger than life bronze statues of his famous characters have been placed prominently around Landmark Plaza near the Xcel Energy Center in downtown St. Paul. It's fun to pass by them each morning as we walk from our car to the arena.
