Convention adjourned

82808adjourned For Karin, Bill, and me, it's now one down, one to go. As police helicopters continue to buzz overhead, the 45th Democratic National Convention now stands adjourned. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi gaveled it to a close after Barack Obama accepted his party's nomination for president before a capacity crowd of more than 75,000 people at INVESCO Field here in Denver.

The thousands of delegates who gathered here from across the country, including those from Berks County and the Lehigh Valley, will now return to their homes and work over the next nine weeks toward a Democratic victory in November.

As for us, we get to go home, too, if only for a day. And only after we file a couple more stories for tomorrow. We're scheduled to fly out tomorrow morning. With the time difference between here and Pennsylvania, we'll land in Philly around 4:15. Then we'll be back at the airport early Sunday morning for our flight to the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Comments

Thanks to the whole 69 crew in Denver and back home in Berks for your great coverage of the Convention. Being in Denver for this historic convention was the thrill of a lifetime for me, and it was wonderful having you folks there to document the Convention, and the activities of our Berks delegates so that we could share this experience with our friends back home. We are really lucky that Channel 69 is so strongly committed to telling both our local stories and our national stories. It was a blast being with you all in Denver, and happy trails as you head to Minneapolis. I look forward to following your coverage of the RNC--though the DNC is a hard act to follow. Safe travels!
